FAQ
1. About the InhaleH2 Device
What makes the InhaleH2 unit different?
The InhaleH2 unit delivers a precise hydrogen concentration (0.1–4.0%) with every breath, staying below the flammability threshold while delivering high flow (≈12 L/min). This makes inhalation safe, comfortable, and effective.
How is hydrogen produced in the machine?
The device uses advanced PEM electrolysis to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.
What materials are used in the machine?
Critical components — including the PEM plates — are made from titanium alloy for durability and corrosion resistance.
Where is the unit designed and manufactured?
It is engineered in the U.S. in collaboration with Alex Tarnava and Dr. Tyler LeBaron, and assembled in China.
Does the unit have certifications?
Manufacturing follows CE requirements. Additional certifications are being pursued.
2. Orders, Pricing & Shipping
What is the return policy?
You may return your unit within 30 days of delivery if it is unused and in original packaging. Returns must be authorized first.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — currently to the USA, Canada, and India. Canadian orders ship from within Canada. More countries will be added.
Can I ship to a PO Box?
No. The unit must be delivered to a physical address.
3. Setup & First-Time Use
What’s included in the box?
The inhalation unit, breathing bag, connector hose, silicone face & nose masks, mask valve with straps, power cable, Allen key, and water dropper.
How do I set up the machine?
Setup is simple: fill with distilled water, attach the breathing bag and mask, plug in, power on, choose your settings, and press PLAY. Detailed steps are in the Quick Start Guide of the User Manual here. Videos are also available here.
Why does the mask smell at first?
A mild silicone odor is normal when new and fades after a few uses.
Is the Smart Knob a touchscreen?
No — rotate to scroll, press to select, or hold for 3 seconds to open the Settings menu.
4. Water, PEM Care & Tank Questions
What water should I use?
Distilled water only. All other water types (including RO, filtered, bottled, tap) may affect performance and void the warranty.
Why must the tank always have water, even when not in use?
The PEM membrane must stay hydrated. If it dries out, performance and lifespan may decline.
What if I accidentally added the wrong water?
Drain the machine using the drain tube and refill with distilled water.
How often should I replace the water?
Every 30–60 days. Also refill whenever the water drops below the LOW line.
Is the water tank removable?
No. It is fixed; draining is done via the drain tube at the bottom of the machine.
5. Using the Device
How long is a typical session?
Most users choose 20 minutes to 3 hours. Daily use is common. The machine can run 24 hours, but continual operation is not recommended.
How do I know hydrogen is actually being produced?
Look for bubbles in the water tank once a session begins — this indicates active electrolysis.
Does a nasal cannula work?
Yes — but only high-flow cannulas. Standard cannulas do not supply enough flow and will not work properly. A high-flow cannula option is coming soon.
Why is airflow so strong?
The system outputs ~12 L/min of mixed air–hydrogen, which is intentional so it can accommodate all breathing patterns.
Why does the machine make noise?
It operates similarly to an oxygen concentrator or aquarium pump — this is normal.
Do I need to breathe a certain way to enhance the therapeutic effect?
No, you can breathe normally as the concentration of hydrogen is fixed to the percent you set on the smart knob.
6. Compatibility With Other Therapies
Can I use hydrogen with CPAP?
Some benefit may occur, but CPAP airflow dilutes hydrogen below therapeutic levels.
Can I use this in a hyperbaric chamber?
No. Hydrogen under pressure increases safety risks. Do not inhale H₂ in a pressurized chamber.
Can I combine hydrogen with HBOT, ozone therapy, or PEMF?
Yes. Hydrogen may complement HBOT by reducing oxidative stress when HBOT exceeds the optimal hormetic range. There is no conflict with ozone or PEMF.
7. Maintenance & Cleaning
How often should I replace the HEPA filter?
Every 6 months or sooner if visibly dirty. Replacement requires removing two screws on the back panel.
How often should I empty or refresh the water?
Drain and replace distilled water every 30–60 days.
How do I clean the breathing bag or masks?
Wash with mild soap and water; air-dry completely.
8. Storage & Transportation
Can I store the machine without water?
Preferably not. But if you must, cover the tank holes with tape to prevent evaporation and refill within 60 days.
Why is there air in the water line after shipping or moving the device?
Water can shift during transport allowing for air bubbles. Use the included dropper to push water in the hole of the water tank until bubbles stop rising — this clears the air pocket.
9. Troubleshooting & Error Messages
What does “Hydrogen Leak Detected” mean?
The sensor may detect humidity, especially after storage.
Try:
-
Letting the machine warm for 5–7 minutes.
-
Leaving it plugged in with the fan on for 1–7 days to dry the sensor.
-
Ensuring the breather bag is connected and the fan is running.
What does “Water Not Flowing” mean?
Air is trapped in the water line. Use the dropper to push water into the rear fill port until bubbles stop.
Why isn’t the bag filling?
A partially filled bag is normal.
But if it never fills — even when you briefly cover the mask — the air pump may not be running. Stop use and contact support.
Inhaleh2 Unit User Manual_Nov 2…
What if no bubbles appear in the water tank?
Increase concentration to 4%. If still no bubbles: stop use immediately. The PEM may not be producing hydrogen.
What does “Water Purity Issue” mean?
Your water has >5 ppm TDS. Drain the tank completely and refill with distilled water.
What does “Temperature Sensor” mean?
The room temperature is outside the safe range (60–80°F / 15–26°C). Move the machine to a stable environment.
10. Warranty & Support
What does the warranty cover?
A full 3-year manufacturer warranty covers defects in workmanship and assembly.
It does not cover:
• non-distilled water use
• misuse
• unauthorized repairs/modifications
